RANK PROGRESSION
Aurora Fleet maintains Fleet
Officer and Flag Officer Ranks. Fleet Officer ranks, ranging
from crewman to Fleet Captain or Colonel, are available to all regular
members joining the fleet. These are essentially 'role playing'
ranks not tied to any particular fleet administrative duties.
If you are new to the fleet, simply choose a rank in the Fleet Officer
range that you wish to portray and role playing accordingly.
Flag Officer ranks (Admiral,
General, Commodore, etc.) are reserved to recognize those officers who
have volunteered for and dutifully perform important leadership services
for the fleet.
These ranks
are earned by appointment for those volunteering to maintain a function
(running events, maintaining recruiting, etc.). After
joining as a fleet officer, let the fleet know if you are interested
in stepping up to regularly support fleet functions as a flag
officer. Flag office appointments prioritized for those
offices who show activity, loyalty, and understanding of the fleet's
operational style, preferences, and guidelines.
COMMAND ORGANIZATION
Flag officer roles are organized into four 'commands':
Space Command
Marine Command (MARCOM)
Operations Command
Central Command
Space Command and Marine Command Flag
Officers are responsible for maintaining group activitity and
mission running in game. These members organize and lead
regular fleet events for the fleet and help keep fleet members
organized and engaged in game.
Operations Command Flag Officers
manage the fleet's administrative duties such as recruiting and diplomacy.
These members maintain fleet functions that preserve the fleet's
structure and culture, as well as its interactivity with the
community at large.
Central Command is composed of the most senior Flag Officers from
our Space, Marine, and Operations Commands. Central
Command officers are the guiding coalition and judiciary body of the
fleet. They make final decisions regarding fleet structure,
operating procedures, and our membership.
Each of command is lead by an Admiral/General, with a Vice
Admiral/Lt. General for support/succession. At the next level of
leadership, Rear Admirals/Major
Generals within each command manage specific ongoing guild functions (mission
running, recruiting, etc.). Commodores/Brigadier
Generals, as our most junior Flag Officers, demonstrate their
leadership capacity through event coordination and support.
Flag officers are promoted
by Central Command on an as needed basis to fill leadership positions
needed by the fleet at
any given time. Our intent is
to maintain a dynamic leaderhsip structure in which Flag positions
are created or retired at any given time based on the immediate
needs of the fleet. While Command level roles (Admiral, Vice
Admiral, General, Lieutenant General) will remain fixed, functional
Flag Officer (Rear Admiral, Commodore, Major General, and Brigadier
General) roles may be modified by Central Command on the fly. Refer to the
fleet forums for the latest flag officer ranks in use.
